jeep lj sub box help

I have a sundown sa10 d2 . I want to build the box they have on their website but want to modify a bit. I was wondering would it be ok to face the sub a different direction than the slot/port. Was wanting to make the sub down fire with the port facing the front. Any help would be appreciated. Jeep on

No reason it will not work. The vent ( and box volume) tunes the box to a particular freq. the driver can't "tell" what the direction the port faces or if it was using passive radiators. All the same. You need to be sure the box volume and vent volume are the same as the one you are trying to replicate. You can make the vent a slot (factor length and width x height) or round (length and diameter). There is very little sound that actually comes out of the vent. Just be sure the vent is open and not sealed to the seat or rear gate. Just got done with two TJ subs. Each vented and down firering. Vented to the side. One slotted and one round pvc.

Yup... One more thing is build it so there is enough air space below the sub and not to seal it tight to the floor. Sorry if u are tracking all that.

Good luck

I built a custom downfiring box in the rear behind my bench. Front facing port. Its a lockable tool box with integrated 10" sub. Sits flush with tailgate and top folds down onto the enclosure.

Center console sub (kicker 6.5) just didnt do it for me.

Is an Unlimited TJ's sub box different than a SWB TJ's?

Just a little more room behind the seats to fit a bigger box
