Jack safety

On my YJs and CJs I would place the floor jack under the spring perches to lift. I don't want to bend the bottom shock mount by using it on the TJ, and don't know if using the diff as a lift point is safe. Using the axle tubes (especially on the left front) doesn't leave much room for a jack stand. Am I just worrying too much? I don't want to screw something up.

It is safe to jack the vehicle up on the bottom of the diff or by anywhere along the axle tubes. Just put the jack stands under the axle tube as far to the outside of the vehicle as possible.

Safety tip: if a vehicle is on jackstands under the axle you should not do anything to cycle suspension; like get in and out of the vehicle. The axles move forward and backwards slightly when the suspension is cycled. If you must get in and out or you are adding/removing a lot of weight consider using the jackstands under the frame.
