It's Alive

Well, I was finally able to take it for a spin today. Just a few more things to take care of and it will be done.

Is the body lift necessary for the 5.3 to fit?

It sure does look sweet sitting in there. Looks like a very clean install!

Unfortunatly the body lift is necessary to clear the drivetrain. I hate body lifts but I had to make a coice and I went with the engine.

I'd be really wary about that high of a body lift. Disregarding how it looks, the higher you lift the body off the frame, the more tension you put on the hardware holding the body to the frame, which makes it more likely the body will separate from the frame in an accident.

I don't know how likely it is for a Wrangler specifically, but I have seen other vehicles with body lifts do it in accidents. Not particularly fun or survivable.

So, you had to lift the body and drop the T-case to clear the new drivetrain?

No I didn't drop the t-case. Just used the body lift. The tightest point is at the fire wall where the engine and tranny met. Even after trimming the fire wall and the body lift it is still tight. I might try to take out the spacers and cut them to soo if I can lower it.

It is a 2003 5.3 with a 4L60E and the jeep 231. 4inch suspension lift, 2inch body lift. Custom air box and computer mount made by me. 35/12.50/16 mud brutes on M/T classic locks. Lokar shifters, dual in single out stainless exhaust, sye. For right now the front and rear ends are stock we will see how long they last. Oh, and the aluminum radiator.

Yea i know, I had to take it that low to miss the front drive shaft. I am either going to build a skid plate or change it over to a true dual set up.

If you didn't drop the T case whats that red bar between the frame rails and your TC skid? Nice swap by the way.
