Interior door handle

How do I take this off? I unscrewed it, but the lock and handle are attached to it, do they just pop out? I tried but I didn't want to break it.

if your trying to remove the door panel you dont need to undo the handle, but you must remove door panel to remove the handle

Ahh.. Well I was just trying to remove the little plastic piece to paint it. I guess I have to take the whole panel off? Hm, stinks.
