Installing RE 4.5" Lift

This will be the first lift I have installed on a jeep. Is there anything I should be aware of prior to starting the job, any decisions I will need to make in the process? Any other parts I will need besides the SYE and driveshaft? Just trying to be prepared to avoid problems.

I have the Re 7000 4.5" short arm lift kit.

Don't know who you bought the SYE kit and CV driveshaft but mine did not come with the bolts needed to reconnect new drive shaft to the new spline in the transfer case...remember you don't have any there right now because of the slip yoke being there.

Also I needed rear shock extenders so I bought the teraflex brand.

I also could not reconnect my rear cross bar....couldn't twist the axle enough to line up the bolts. Ended up having to buy an adjustable one.

The only other issue is finding someone "competent" enough to do the alignment. Steering wheel upside down....pulling to the right. Finally found someone at the local Good Year who was able to correct all the crap that Tires Plus screwed up. It still veers a little right when you let go of the steering wheel but nothing drastic.

Good Luck

I just installed the kit on my '06 Rubicon. I ended up buying a few parts. This is what I got. New shocks (I went with RE Monotunes), CV Driveshaft (Tom Wood's) and TeraFlex Shock Relocators.

I ended up installing the kit with a friend, brother and father. Took us a little longer than excepted due to us breaking a bolt in the bump stop (Took 6 hours to drill out the bolt and replace).

After installing everything minus the one issue. I say it took 12 hours to install the kit with new shock and relocatoring brackets. Another 2 hours for installing the CV Shaft, Mounting 4 35" MTRS and trying to adjust the alignment (Which we tried so hard and it was still extremely bad).

I ended up taking my rig to a local shop and they fixed the alignment for $49.99.

If you have questions please PM me. I have pictures of us doing the installation. I just need to upload them. We did the installation over this past weekend.

We just did some research on the forums a few weeks before installing. It's not hard, just time consuming.

TAKE YOUR TIME!

If you unsure about anything read up on it before just trying things. You could end up breaking and wasting a lot of time.

I got the 3.5" coil springs, am I going to need relocating brackets for the shocks?
Also I havent got the SYE and CV shaft yet, I was advised to install the lift, measure the length, then get the CV shaft made.

Why did you have to get shock relocation brackets? Was this for the front or rear? I've put my front shocks on but haven't started the rear yet and now you have me concerned. I have the RE 7000 superflex.

I didn't need relocation brackets for the shocks with this lift kit.

If you get a drive shaft from Tom Woods he can send you the right drive shaft before you do the lift. With his experience he will know what you need. At least he did for me. Or you could wait till after the lift and just drive around with the rear drive shaft out.

If you use the RE monotubes they mount can up, you will not need relocators. I would suggeest the RE rear adj trackbar and opting for the adj lowers.

Call Tom Wood and tell him which lift you are running. They have the info they need. They had me measure my stock length, asked which lift I was installing (RE 4.5 SF) and did the rest.

JamesG, why the shock relocators with the RE monotubes? I went with the monotubes so I wouldn't need re-locators.
