Did you put them on the bottom and the back or just the bottom on both seats?

Bottom and back of both seats. The kit comes with four pads total.

Ohh it comes with 4 pads for 150. that doesn't seem that bad. I wonder how it will effect the padding or the cloth of the seat. in the long run. Also, can you tell that they are in there while sitting on them? when they are not on?

No, you can't tell they are there. It's an extremely thin carbon fiber mat and you don't notice it. Total install was about 6 hours or so. I could do it much quicker now, but that's what it took for me.

Do you think the heat would still travel well if you installed the pads under the original seat fabric and had seat covers over that as well?

I know that sounds self defeating, but I guess I am just wondering if it would feel bulky or look awkward if you just put them under some seat covers but over the original upholstery.

Plus I would hate to have to remove the seats again and reinstall everything if I decided to take the seat covers out.

Thanks...

I would think it might increase the amount of time it takes before you start feeling the heat, but it's tough to say. The additional material might reduce the utlimate temperature you feel, too. It would probably be OK, but I couldn't say for sure without trying it.

OK - in case anyone is interested, here's two pics of the switches. It's hard to tell, but in the second pic the switch on the left is on high (red) and the one on the right is on low (green).

You bet they are. Still working great. I've been using them everyday since it cooled off about a month ago.

i bought two of these ones that plug into the cigar lighter and go under my seat covers. they work great and they were only 17 bucks a pop. i can also take them out in the summer so i dont accedentaly turn them on when its 110 outside. cheap alternative and you dont have to take your seat apart...

Boy, I missed this thread...

My wife's KJ has seat heaters, and it's great in winter, especially on leather. Makes you not want to wear a coat as that lower back heat is nice. I'll have to do this too in m TJ!
