Installation of Extra Lights

I want to add some more light to my TJ> I dp a lot of driving in the desertso the extra lights are a great help. I like the KC HiLites 6" Round SlimLite Series Driving 100W Super White Halogen...

I was trying to find a good write up that might help me out since I am very bad with the electrical stuff

Any help on how or where can I get a good write up on this??? Or any feedback on the KCs??

Thanks........

if you are dead set on KC's then i cannot help you, but if you are open for options i have the Explorer ProComps and they are verly slim lights and a lot cheaper than the KC lights. i run 2 5" and 2 6" lights on my front bumper and 2 5" lighst on my windshield frame. they give off more than enough light up front and to the sides.

don't know if that helps you any, not really on KC's. . . but i hope it gives you something to think about.

To actually answer your question - its very easy - you must use a relay - and dont go over the rating for the relay, and size the wire properly - and you will be fine.

Search on here for lights and relays and many people have already drawn diagrams - there are a few questions you need to answer before you start

1) how many lights and how much wattage for each (or total)

2) do you want the lights to be able to turn on when the vehicle is off? (battery or ignition power for the switch for the relay)

Does anyone have pics on how the wires are connected to the battery or fuse box?? how to get the wires through to the switch.

and where is the best place to put the relay under the hood or in the car, i read on some threads where someone had the relay somewhere in the passenger seat area

Don't know if this helps or not, but I've added two sets of lights, the first were 7" round HID's from Checker Auto Parts. All I had to do what put them where my fogs were and wire them into the existing wiring. I used a multi meter and verified the HID's drew less amps than the stock fogs to ensure I was not overloading the circuit. I'm still have on my list of to do's to disable the relay that prevents the fogs and brights from being on together. I found a fix for this on the internet, I believe you just bend of the the taps on the rely over.

The second set I mounted to the KC windshield brackets, they were PIAA's, and came with all the wiring, relay, and detailed instructions. I ran the main pos and neg straight from the battery posts to the relay. Pos and Neg to both lights and a switch inside that I powered from the fuse box behind the glove box by simply removing a fuse and inserting the stripped end of the wire under one fuse post. Pretty simple to me about and hour to complete the install.

Is the IPF H4 headlight conversion worth the money, since the original headlights suck or just stick with auxiliary lighting

YES !!!!!
Why go adding the other lights if your stock headlights still suck?
Get the IPF housings, with FATBOY bulbs, its a HUUUUUUGE improvement.
