Insta-trunk that covers the whole LJ trunk?

Is there an insta-trunk that would secure and cover everything behind the rear seat of an LJ? It appears bestop sells only one mode for all TJ/LJ models, so that would leave a rather large space unsecured in the LJ and would kill the available storage.

Oh and links or pics would be great.

I have not found anything in my search. I plan on building my own when time permits. Let me know if you find anything.

Check this out.....

It's not exactly an Insta-trunk, but I think it accomplishes what you're looking for. I don't know if you've followed the "Safari Cab" thread, but the guy that started that thread designed that box. He's incredibly sharp! In the thread, he indicates that GR8Tops is going to manufacture the box in the picture.

On the other hand Tuffy, makes a complete slide out trunk unit that bolts down behind the rear seats in an LJ. Mine came with one when I bought it, and I really, really like it for securely carrying just about anything, especially while wheeling. It's pretty awesome, heavy duty, ball bearing slide, locking latch, etc.

That being said, it's pricy and I would never buy one most likely.

I built my own. I'm going to add some carrage bolts to secure it to the frame and so I can put on a dual compressor, airtank and a battery box on it.

Decided to permanently remove the back seat and the seatbelts went with them.

After about 30 minutes of measuring, I cut a square, and then cut out the squares in the corners for the seat belts. I made sure that the driver and passenger edges when up under the rail about half an inch. also cut out the little rectangle for the rear door black box that is behind the handle.

Then stapled carpet to it.

Then measured for the legs, little ones under the tub rails and two big ones under the middle.

The finally, made little blocks and put them in the corners that were exposed from the roll bar, and this left the rear holes open to attach the hardtop.

Thats it.

Supples:

10 foot long 2x4
3/4 inch thick sheet of plywood, pressure treated.
=30 bucks.

+carpet @ 15 bucks

= total of 45 bucks. pretty good deal.
Just thought i'd share.

I still need to figure out what im going to do to keep intruders from getting in from behind the seats...

Then....

Made a back wall to it

I just did: measure, measure, cut, measure, measure cut, ......
