increase tire size with out a lift

i have recently bought a '05 wrangler and could not be happier. so much fun. it is almost time to put new tires on it and i think it would look a lot better with a little bigger tires. however i want to keep it as compfrotable as possible as a daily driver (i ant to drive it all the time). can i increase the tire size with out a lift??

you can go as large as a 30x9.50r15 on those wheels. If you wanted to go to a 31x10.50R15 you would need either wheel spacers or after market wheels.

But the simple answer is, you can go as large as a 31x10.50 with no lift.

You can run 31's with no lift. Factory Rubicon's come from the factory with 31's but do have slightly different backspacing on their factory wheels.

Congratulations on the Jeep purchase.

actually their back-spacing is pretty close to the same, the main difference is they are running an 8" rim and have a tire that only measures 10" wide at the most. Really it's the only reason why jeep went with a 16" wheel, so they could get the height of the tire but keep it skinny enough to run the standard BS with out rubbing on a CA.

if you bust out the sawzall and cut the body up, you can fit 35x12.50's on 4" of backspacing. otherwise 31x10.50.

OR replace the panels with AEV's highline kit and fit 33s.

The largest tires I'd run on no lift are 35's. Either DIY highline, AEV, Metalcloak, or TNT fenders. When the time comes, I'll be running 40's on 2.5" of lift with a 1" body lift (current amount).

Yes, you can fit 31x10.50's on stock rims with no lift, but may have to put washers behind steering stops.

Nice looking TJ, it will look good with a little more tire under it, but it will look even better if you spend an extra 30 seconds to fold your top a little neater
