Ignition Issue

I am an ignition novice.

I have to "bump" the ignition to get it to turn over.

Meaning I have to turn the key quickly forward then back (just after the engine starts to turn).

Then it will start.

98 TJ, 2.5, Manual

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
