Help a newbie out here. I assume that "corners" refers to the rear corner of the vehicle. Those in the know are impressed, but I'm missing it. What is it that changed?

Those new turn signals look wicked awesome. I would love to see those when they are on.

"Corners" also called "crusher corners" is basically a type of armor that bolts over the rear corner - a common area for damage. My corners have a 4.5" flare welded to them and also have an extended wheel well opening. Some "corners" just cover the corner and allow for the stock flare to remain. Mine are a full cover which eliminates the stock plastic (or bush wacker in my case) fender flare. If you read through the build from the start you will see the evolution and understand but here are some photos.

Here is the "corner" as it comes from Brown Santa.

After the stock fender flare is removed before cutting a larger opening:

After the cut:

After the install:

Tonight I had a few hours to spend on the Jeep - I decided to work on some of the less important things.

Here is the grip tape I put on the rocker steps - no more slipping when standing on them.

Seat covers - yea, I know no one likes neoprene - but these were cheap and looked decent. I will use them for a while and then upgrade to the faux leather ones.

I was wondering how the new GPS would fit over the dash bar - seems to work great. I need to run a power cord still.

I also cleaned the interior of the Jeep - it was getting really dirty from all the work so far. I think I will put the hard top back on tomorrow before we start getting snow (It is sitting on the ground outside) which will help keep everything clean inside.

I received my new radiator a couple days ago - I will work on that over the weekend. Still ticked that I made that bonehead mistake...

If you do, you had best lock it up in a safe deposit box. Nothing good comes from the Mrs. seeing a running a tally. Keep records for possible insurance claims but for your jeep's sake don't keep a visible spreadsheet

I have a trip to Mexico planned in two weeks (just work..) and I was hoping to have it done by then but thats not going to happen.

You're noticing what's referred to as "flop". Essentially the only way to get the metallic particles to reflect the light the same way is to paint the Jeep with the same robotic paint set-up the factory used with the the strokes of the paint gun going in the same directions with all the panels hanging on the Jeep.

Since painter hang their stuff in the booth and don't keep the paint gun perfectly level and travel in perfectly linear and parallel paths, you get some differences in the way the particles lay down and that causes them to reflect the light slightly differently.

Especially true if they hang something like a front fender from the marker light holes and the rear corners from the top mounting holes.

Thanks! I just about sprayed them black myself with hammerite as I really like another jeep that went that direction but got a really good price on having them painted. I am glad I did.

Yep. On my first post I have links to much of what I bought so I suppose one could add most of it up if anyone really wants to know, but I am not going to share any numbers here. Lets just say I could have bought a decent TJ with what I am building this one for.

i put the same grip tape on my rokmen sliders. seemed like a great idea at the time. i found out that i dount use them to get isn and out, bu the kids do. i am thinking of trimming the drivers side tape up to make it clear the rear of theh door opening about 3-4 more inches than what you have. i have had my tape on for about a year now and all of my shorts and jeans have wear marks on the back of the leg where it rubs the tape everytime i get out of the jeep. a few pairs of my shorts that i wear to work so they see the tape on a daily basis actually have holes in the back. the tape is still just as gritty as it was the day i installed it a year ago. the winter ice and snow didnt affect it at all.
