I bought a piece of 1" angle iron about 2 feet long, and cut/drilled it to match the bottom bolts of the stock tire carrier. I then drilled a hole on the top side of it to mount my CB antenna to. Then you just run your CB antenna through the location your 3rd brake light wire goes through, paint it up, and viola! $10 sturdy CB mount! A 4ft antenna sticks up past my top by about 8-9".
![]() EDIT: Here's some pics by request. Sorry if they kind of suck, didn't feel like taking my spare off to take pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I made a new suspension and converted my TJ to an extended Radius Arm setup in the front and a spring-over leaf spring setup in the rear using full-width Ford D44's, netting an overall 6" stretch in the wheelbase and a final track width of 82". I made my own heavy duty steering, too.
Here's links to the writeups: Front full-width HP D44 swap: http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6902 Rear Spring-Over Leaf spring conversion and full width rear axle: http://www.jeepaholics.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=50721 HD Steering: http://www.myjeeprocks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8003 Just a note on the rear suspension: I have since switched to Rubicon Express 1.5” Spring-Over leafs and it greatly improved the stance and ride. I also had to add a Sam’s Offroad traction bar because I had axle wrap from hell. It works awesomely well. |

Yours is similar to my setup, guess there can't be that much variance in designing a heat exchanger. Did you use 3/8" tubing for the coil? Is that 3" or 4" pipe. I priced out 4" pipe and end pieces when I did mine and had a coronary. $47/foot for the pipe and over $180 for the 2 end caps. Needless to say I went smaller. Something to consider if you ever open it back up again is to put some baffles in.

Comfort Upgrade
Built these today. I took the hard doors off this week. It's been getting REAL nice around here. 70 today and in the 80's last week. Soft doors on now and the Safari Top as soon as the trail cover shows up.
BUT the soft doors are hard on the arms. Not any more... ![]() 1x3 hardwood with 3/8" x 4 1/2" carrage bolts in the window holes. ![]() I painted the bolt heads a lighter color so it doesn't get so darn hot. Clear Varithane on the wood (Poplar) Not an original idea. A friend has the same setup but he used old hardwood lawn chair arms.

Lots of talent here! All I've made is a 1 3/4" seat lift but in all honesty, all I really did was buy the bits and pieces from a fastener store...
