helo i have a 2003 jeep wrangler tj, for the past year my wrangler has been making a blinker sound coming from the steering column but only on hot days if it is 80 or below it never comes on if it is 90 or above it comes on every single time and makes a steady blinker sound the whole time but if i use my blinkers or press the brakes the noise goes away and when i release the brakes it comes right back. but after the jeep has cooled off inside the cab for about 20 minutes i can turn the jeep off and then right back on and the sound goes away. the sound seems to be triggered by heat. i have replace all bulbs and also replaced the flasher relay on the steering clump twice any other ideas would be so help thanks!
if you need any information please ask i would love to fix this problem thanks!
I have the same problem. I don't know what the cause is, but I never tried to fix it or diagnose it yet either. I would think it would have something to do with the clockspring? But not positive...
I had the same issue I ended up replaceing the turn signal switch and it went away. However the first time i had the top down and it rained the issued returned. Any really humid or extremly hot day and it does it. I will be repalceing the switch very soon as the right hand turn signal will not work at all if i fully engage the switch now. but if i just push it slightly the signals work.
it worked like a charm. That is until i left the top down and there was 4 inched of water in the bottom. ha ha. I actually tore the original turn signal switch apart and it was coraded.
Sounds like a clock spring to me. Do your self a favor and search "clock spring" before you buy parts.
