I have an an A/C issue, I got a leak

2000 tj, the a/c was working great then I was running down the road and slowly over about 100 mils it went from cool to warm to hot.

I put in a can of refrigerant and it worked again for a few hours. compressor is working. did the by-pass of the relay under the hood and it clicked on.

I am assuming that I have a leak, duh. but how can I find it and determine if it is in the evaporator coils or the condenser or the compressor or some place else?

any suggestions?

I already threw $25 in refrigerant into the air. What can you guys tell me what to look for.

Thanks

Use the can that has the dye in it. Then use an UV light to check all the connections, the dye will show up where the leak/leaks are

Do you know anyone in HVAC/R that may have the light and glasses you can borrow? Have you checked your local auto parts store to see if they have loaners possibly?

its sunday and I ain't got that far yet. figured I would do it myself with out hitting a repair shop. figured I would lean on this forum for some pointers. I suppose I can get a uv light from ebay or amazon.

Has anyone done a video of this kind of repair yet?
