Huge Jeep mystery

I just bought a 2004 Jeep TJ and have a question that is driving me crazy!!! There are two bars, maybe 24" long, in a bag velcroed on the passenger side floor against the door.

What the hell are these things for?????

I was wondering this same thing for a while till I opened them up and saw the instructions. All you do is put them together and they make an extension handle for the bottle jack.

2005 Wrangler Unlimited
6 speed, hard top, bone stock

If you were afraid to open that little bag and look inside, don't even think about opening the hood. There's a whole bunch of complicated crap hidden under it.

Ever try to use the jack without those? It sucks! I used just the tire iron the other day.
