The hub bearing is an assembly and comes with everything you need.
Did you look at it yet, or is the hub bearing just a hunch? Try holding the tire at noon and 6 and see if you have any slop. If there is slop, watch closely to see where it is coming from.

If you find that you do need a new bearing assembly, called a unit bearing hub, check out www.rockauto.com/ which is coming on like gangbusters with much lower than average prices. I don't think I've ever seen their online prices for Jeep parts beat by any of the usual sources.

If you have a remote chance that it might be your Hub Bearing do your self a favor and verify it and replace it. You do not want it to fail. Jeep turn right and wheel go left. Been there done that.

I've used Rockauto before as well, no complaints, but when I replaced both hub/bearings in November, I saved about $20 over rockauto after shipping costs were factored in... my experience is that partstrain had much better shipping rates, and similar or slightly lower base costs on the parts I needed. |

My sons Cherokee sounded like that, it turned out to be the bearings. Do yourself a favor and do not buy cheap ones. I did and the new ones sounded the same out of the box. After allot of $$$$ and time I got a better set and the problem went away. Bottom line you get what you pay for.

I don't think anyone is likely to argue that Timken parts are "cheap" but they were definitely inexpensive.. |

I know it's kind of scarey when you see big name suppliers getting cheaper $$ wise. I just hope they are not having them made in China like a lot of the good 'ole big name companys are.... God what a crime!!

this almost seems like one of the few things in which I'd rather go to the dealer.

There are some things I prefer going to the dealer for but unit bearing hubs would definitely not be one of them. I forget what my dealer wants for unit bearing hubs but I think my local Sears store paid them close to $300 nearly ten years ago for a single hub when they had to rebuild one (before converting them to manual hubs) because they forgot to tighten the lug nuts and a wheel came off totalling the unit bearing hub. Dealer parts departments are just nuts when it comes to pricing on some parts.

Not even close, my dealer's parts department just quoted me (I was curious enough to call) $299 list and typical out the door price to joe-blow who doesn't negotiate is $349. You can get that price down if you have a relationship with your dealer's parts department but it won't be anywhere approaching what unit bearing hubs sell for in the aftermarket.

wow. I was just thinking those might be something not to skimp on, since we all know that sometimes aftermarket parts can be less than stellar.

A unit bearing is a pretty cheap and simply thing to replace.. spending $300 at a dealer is just stupid. The timken ones are good.
