how to recharge my a/c?
It just quit blowing cold air, so I need to know how to recharge my air conditioning. Do I have to buy the whole recharge kit, or can I just get some refrigerant?......what kind? I also nee some basic instructions on how to do this if possible.

A/C JEEP whats wrong with that picture
I'd say just take it and hvae it done because the kits they try and sell are not worth a sh**. to get it full re-charged with r12 or depending on your year it maybe 134-A i think either way its freon and takes usually about 1 to 2 pounds to completly fill so just go somewhere and have them charge your a/c system its not that expensive.

Where's a good place to take it? Will a Full service gas station be able to handle it? There's one around the corner.
Thanks for the headsup jeepinkg. scott |

As for having a/c in a jeep, I'm 17 and dates don't exactly like hot vehicles. my first car didn't have it and one mississippi summer without it is enough for me. I don't see anything wrong with being comfortable while driving any type of vehicle.

I was just giving you a hard time i wish mine had it at times... as for taking to to a full service gas station unless the do auto repairs i would doubt that they have the machine to do it. Try a few of the local body shops or mechancis they should be able to do it for you. and you can take a look under the automotative section in the phonebook jiffy lube or pep boys may have it. If nothing else take it to the dealer but probably will charge you a whole lot more than anywhere else would

Around here, a charge runs ~$100. You can buy the recharge kit and all the refrigerant you need for under $50. It is stupid-simple, and comes with good directions. But be SURE that's the problem. Might wanna ask 'em at the 'Zone or wherever you go if they can put a guage on it first....

Just because it does not blow cold does not mean that it's low on refrigerant. It could have a bad high or low pressure switch, bad coil etc.

^what he said. Don't go putting refrigerant in a system until you know what the pressures are. If you are low on refrigerant, you have a leak and should fix it if possible.
