How the heck do i do this?

HEy guys,

i've only had my jeep for a month and it's finally about 50degrees up here. but the owners manuel has been lost and i've never taken a top off a jeep. Is there any write ups on it? The manuel's lost at home some where but tommorow will be the last day it's nice until the next storm hits. I'm die'n to take the top off.

thanx for the help.
pete

hard top or soft top???

soft top- undo the latches under the visors
pull out the side above the doors,
unzip the quarter windows,
pull them off
open the rear gate- pull out the bar in the back
untuck the sides of the rear window
roll the sucker up
pull the corners out
finish unbuckling the front and fold back
put the top down for the rest of the winter and buy a big thick jacket and gloves, leave the upper door halfs on and crank up the heater.

Hey mcgawb,

Just about every other post of your's has the word's Angle and Grinder in them
you should make us a list of every thing on your Jeep you used an angle Grinder on.

I am assuming you have a soft top. Good rule of thumb to go by: The colder it is the tighter your top gets. It shrinks up and gets a little hard when it is cold. I will not take my top off unless it is 65+ F. It is easy to get the top off but getting it back on with the side panels is a little tricky when it is cold. If the soft top is old you also run the risk of cracking the plastic when it is cold. Hope that helps.

Jeep compensated for this type of behavior by giving us heaters that can cook a full turkey in under 4 hours in the front seat.

But these guys are right tho. Its a real pain to put the top on right when its cold. I got mine a month ago as well. The dealer I got my car from must have tested the top when they got it, and I have not been able to close one of the back window's zippers. Everything is where it should be, but the top is tight and has obviously shrunk.

wow, your more of a man than I am! I leave my top on if it's under
50degrees when I wake up. I have never seen a write up on
taking of the top...but somebody in your local jeep club could show
you in a few minutes...you ARE in your local jeep club, AREN'T YOU?!

TANGO:

what's really funny is there is no list!
I just like watching other people use em...although I did take an
angle grinder to my LCA brackets...

btw, these are for sale, slightly used...gives your jeep that
'trail used' look!
any takers? shipping is free in the lower 48...
