If you are new to it, mind sharing as to why the BL? How high is it and what all are you looking to accomplish?

I just did it with the help of my dad, but am sure that I could have done it myself. The real issue wasn't the body lift, I would have no issues doing that myself. I am very glad that the old man was around to help with the motor mount lift.

If I can do it . . . anybody can do it. There wasn't any heavy lifting, well other than what was done by the jack.

I read through the 4X4explor link posted above before I did mine and would recommend it.

I'm 5'5" - 140lbs, and had just finished chemotherapy the week I did mine. Unless you have some serious debilitating condition, you're certainly able to do this yourself. I managed MORE motor mounts too in the same weekend, but it took much longer than I expected, and I learned a vital lesson about parking in the low spot of your driveway and unbolting the engine: It will rain on you.

A jack (the bottle jack that comes with your jeep can work in a pinch), a socket set and extentions, plus some blocks of wood. Some liquid wrench might also be a neccesity.

The bottle jack worked better for the tight spot you need to put it than the floor jack. Just stack a 4x4 underneath it and 2x4's above it. Floor jack is neccesary for a MML.

A torque wrench isn't neccesary - you basically tighen until the rubber mounts start to squish.

Nope.

It means it'll rain. On you. the sky will dump its watery load all over your head.

Engine + low spot = you have no way of moving the jeep to another spot.

Took me 2 hours only because I took my time. It's real easy... loosen all the bolts on one side (5) and leave them threaded. Completely remove the other 6 (1 under the radiator) and then jack up the body. Slide in your 1" pucks and thread your bolts. Lower the body... do the same to the other side and you are done. Drop your radiator an inch or install a MML and you are completely done. Don't worry about your t-case linkage... it should shift fine.

I did a BL and a MML 2 weeks ago, no joke the BL took 25 minutes. (it was my second time doing it and I had air tools). The MML with the rubicon was a little more difficult than I thought, the mounts went in fine, but getting bolts to fit b/c of placement of other parts was a pain, over all 3 hours for both. DANG that MML!

the write up on 4x4explore is what i used.

the body lift really only took about an hour for me, but most of that time was cramming, or trying to cram, the two bumper like thingies (I believe that is the technical term) up front. The MML took a little longer because I could not get the bolts from the kit started. All in all, including installation of discos took about 4 and a half hours

We did one yesterday in under an hour, plus another half hour modifying the fan shroud.

The only reason it even took that long was due to the new rubber bumpers under the grill.

I just lined mine up with the holes and let the weight of the Jeep pop them in. I think it took a couple hundred miles of bouncing before they seated right.

The way we did it yesterday was more correct. It took us most of the time messing with them trying to get them to pop into the holes.

Took me about 2 hours working by myself, with most of that time working on the MML . I used air tools so that helped a lot. The BL from Performace Accesories has the bolt in front bumpers under the headlights. It made the task MUCH easier. I did not even have to remove the headlights to do it, just the trim pieces. Just used a telescoping magnet to place the bolts in the holes and a 1/4" ratchet and extension to hold it.

If you have some help it should go even faster.

Took me two nights after work, taking my time, and with dinner breaks. But i did a 2" and had to extend the gas fill hose. The hardest part had to to be messing with the tc shift bracket and then adjusting the t case.
