How to change Rear shoes and emergency brake on a 2005 tj unlimited??

It has a different setup, then what i'm used to.

It is pretty easy just take you time and do one side at a time and have the other side off so you can compare.

Take the rotor off and inspect. Are you really sure the ebrake shoes are bad? Unless you left the ebrake on while driving they should never have to be replaced.

Rear shoe's and emergency brake pad's? You got one or the other not both.

Rear shoe's are your E-brake (parking brake) pad's as well.

If you got rear disc brakes then you might have seperate parking brake pad's in side the rotor unless you got the cable attatched to the caliper.

What do you have? Rear disc or drum?

Its an LJ so it should be Rear disc's.

OP - I assume your e-brake is not holding? Most likely it needs adjustment. I am not sure how they adjust on an LJ but someone will chime in.

The LJ's use a rear disc brake setup, which has drum brake pads INSIDE the disc for the E-brake. This isn't LJ specific, its very common on rear disc brakes.

he's rear discs, so that isn't really applicable...except maybe somewhat for the e-brake.
