Can't post pics but I have seen them. Obviously you wouldn't want something very high
![]() You might consider something like a yakima bike rack. You won't be able to hold a lot of weight anywyas, so you migth be able to figure something out that lets you attach it easily...look into plumbers strap at the hardware store. |

Thanks. I'll look into the plumbers straps.
I remember seeing a woman either in the TJ or YJ forum with what looked like a hood rack. I went through all the galleries for both and never saw it. Anyone know who it may be?

EDIT FOR ABOVE: I said yakima bike rack...I meant a yakima cargo rack like this:
Yakima Products - BasketCase They and other companies make smaller ones also, and really any rack that you liked the size of could work... Any hardware store should have it. Make sure you get a heavy gauge. Sometimes you will find cheap stuff that is very flimsy and wouldn't work - just make sure you get a thickness that is not effortless to bend by hand and it would definitely be strong enough (80% of what I see for sale is the strong stuff, I think 22-18 gauge...but don't quote me on that). My jeep is strictly for trail use so I'm thinking along that line...but the strap would require you to drill holes in your hood unless you used the little bar and windshield stops as mount points. You might just have to make little brackets which I think wouldn't bee too difficult. Last edited by drcustom; 09-24-2009 at 12:29 PM.. |
