Home Made Bumper

Im Looking To Make My Own Rear Bumper Has Any One Done This And How Did You Do It Any Special Things To Watch Out For? How Much Did You End Up Spending Was It Worth It

Here's the one I did a couple of years ago.

The bumper is 3/16" rectangular tubing capped on the ends. The pivot point is a stub axle from a trailer hub (complete with bearings etc). The TC part is 3/16" square tubing. The rest of it can be seen in the pics.

Would I do it again? No! The material cost wasn't too bad, but I can think of much more productive ways to spend my time. Especially when you can buy a decent bumper/TC combo for about $300!

First off.....Thanks!

I don't have any dwgs. Did it mainly on the fly with alot of thought put into the spindle/pivot before I started.

Let me know what dimensions you're after, and I'll get them to you.
There were some tricky things and there are things I would do differently.
