Home Built Front Bumper

My buddy and I decided to build a front bumper for my 98 TJ. I had previously had the ARB front bull bumper and didn't like the tire approach it offered and how heavy it was and wanted to go with something drastically different.

After discussing what I wanted we decided to go with a stinger and grill hoop combo. Looked around online and found the Rokmen Mercenary GT and really liked the look of it.

List of things still to come:

End caps with holes to accommodate Currie Anti-Rock system
Steering box skid plate
Radiator Skid plate
Gussets on outside corners of grill hoop for strength
Braces to tie the stinger to the grill hoop for added integrity
Winch plate (once I get a winch)

Here is our first home built bumper. Any and all criticism is welcome as well as suggestions. Hope you guys like it!! :cheers2:

Nice work!!!! Maybe some supports between the stinger and the main hoop? That stinger will just fold back on a big hit.... keep up the great work

Edit: Already see that in your plans.... Need to start reading, then look at pics.

Yup, we were going to do it right away bbut the damn trigger on his welder broke and we weren't able to... though I drove up to a street pole and put the front of the stinger on there and it lifted the front of the jeep of the ground so it is pretty strong

Awesome. What thickness steel?

What are your tires, wheels and lift? Your profile says 31x10.5 but it looks like you've upgraded. I like the whole package (including the bumper). Looks built for real work.

yea i upgraded... the tires are 33x12.5 Goodyear Wrangler Dura-trac... Awesome tires, self clean really well, great street performance, sticky, good sidewalls. I love these tires. The wheels are just your basic 15s. Lift is still the 2.5 OME lift with some trimming on the flender fares...

I am going for exactly that. It is function over form. Basically I want to build it to drive there be beat on and drive home
