Hole in 1997 TJ wranglers frame

Hey fellas, I just bought a 1997 tj wrangler and we were looking at the frame and got under the under coating and found the frame was cracked. So we started investigating and come to find it is rotted the whole way through. Anyone have any idea what I should do? It was just inspected a week or so ago. How often does remanufactured/used frame come along? an how much do they cost?

Welcome to the forum.

Post some pics of the frame and we can give you a better idea if it can be repaired or if a frame swap is a better alternative.

I've seen good shape, used TJ frames going for around $400-500.

I was told last night that this can be welded but I still have my doubts about it. It just keeps saying Error when I try to post the pictures.

It certainly doesn't look good, but maybe just that section could be replaced/repaired.

How does the rest of the frame look?

I'm afraid a frame swap is the likely answer here.

The rest of the frame is fine. My dad was planning on getting someone to weld a piece of metal to the mount and run it up the bend. Would this even work.

Davey's Jeep in Salem, OH or Simpson Family Jeeps in Meadville, PA would be sources for good used frames.

If you check the link I posted above it is for new sections you can buy and weld in.

A good welder could repair it but I'm betting thats not the only bad spot. I patched mine in the same area but it wasnt near as bad as yours is. I vote frame swap.
