Hitch Wiring

I just installed a Reese hitch on my X. I got the wiring harness from Quadratec and went to install it. The harness is made by hidden hitch with 2 T connectors to plug into the factory harness. The problem is that the passenger side does not have a plug that I can connect into. The driver side is not a problem. Am I missing somethine??

I installed a hitch and harness on a 2003 sahara last year and just three weeks ago on an unlimited. Look under the rear corner on the passenger side. You will have to pull back the plastic cover. The connector is wrapped in some kind of foam tape that you will have to pull away to be able to take the connector apart and plug your harness in. For the unlimited it was in the corner, for the 2003 tj it may have been a few inches closer to the wheel well. I do not recall exactly for the 2003. Both times it was wrapped in the dark grey or black foam tape. You should only have to plug into the one side.

Looks like the passenger side is hard wired. I see the wires coming from the drivers side then it branches off to the the light without a connector. Looks like I am going to hae to splice it.

I also couldnt' find the plug on my '03 when I went to do the hitch. Any chance they didn't do some that way for some reason?

Having just done my unlimited it is fresh in my mind. For the unlimited it was easy access in the extreme rear corner of the passenger side. I also did my '03 sahara last year which I eventually traded for the LWB. Take out the three or four plastic screw/rivet like devices that hold the wheel well plastic splash guard in place. Push the guard aside so that you can lay on your back and look up into the area behind the wheel well. The connector may be clipped to the body. I do not recall the 2003 tj being as easy as the unlimited. Also look for the connector camouflaged in dark grey foamed tape. I dunno!

Zookeeper - When you put on your hitch, were the bumber mounting bolts metric or standard? Mine are metric. In the Reese intructions, it said it could be either. Could be a clue.

I just installed the Mopar harness in my TJ last weekend and didn't have a problem. Like Honaker said, there should be a connection wrapped up in a gray foam that you need to pull apart and connect the harness to. When you look under that splash shield, there is a wire that shoots across to the drivers side, but if you follow it up to the passenger tail lamp and move the wires around you should be able to find that connector mentioned above. It's not visible and takes some skootchin around to get it...

My Hidden Hitch had standard bolts and nuts.

I dug around and found it. It was stuffed pretty good up in the hole towards the tail light.

Thanks
