hiss noise from engine and doesnt wana down shift

i jus changed the exaust manifold and it seemed to have fixed the diesel sound but after i got it all back together i drove it and it doesnt seem to want to down shift when i get on it and there is a hissing sound i cant seem to find. i can literaly smash the gas to the floor and it wont down shift and the rps jus slowly go up.

sounds like a vacuum leak, I didn't know they had a vacuum kickdown, maybe they don't. Most likely that's the problem do you have a chiltons with a vacuum diagram or a underhood diagram on the fan shroud? you should check that see if there's anything going down to your trans. on the diagram.
