Hi-Lift Jack mount.

I am looking at getting a hood rack hi lift jack mount and was wondering if anyone has either the KC HiLites one or the Tough Stuff one. I asked quadratec and neither has locking mechanism and wanted to know if anyone has modified a lock for them. Quadratec said it is possible and was looking for suggestions from you guys before i buy one.

3.....2......1.....

here comes the "oh my god it's going to be a projectile" posters!

Get ready - you are going to have a lot of people saying that is the worst place to mount it as if you get in an accident it becomes a missile. Not really sure why the bolts that would mount it on the hood are any weaker than having it mounted on a rear carrier or anything like that. Seems to me if you are putting that much stress on it - it will come off no matter where it is mounted.

I thought about doing it this way but ended up mounting mine on the rear bumper for visibility reasons (IE, I'm short and can't see over the hood!) That's the only real drawback...

EDIT - Sorry didn't realize you are looking for a lock. I just use a generic cable lopp lock on mine on my back bumper.
