It sure does now! The hemi is in and bolted up. I sprayed the frame with bed liner and it looks pretty good now. Pics to follow once the rain stops and there is enough light for my crappy phone cam. I have started to attach the wiring harness to the engine and sent the the rad away for some modification. I will also need to get my rear ds shortened.

New steering box too

As you can see above I mounted my new AGR steering box.

I need to mount the pillar for the steering rack that was removed when positioning the motor mounts ... anyone come across this problem and how did you fix it?

I can appreciate a garage filled with hockey sticks.. lol..

I was going to comment on one of the pics that the frame looked like it needed to be prepped and put some POR 15 or something on it, but you did it. Awesome work so far.

Yeah, another thing, here is the link to another Hemi build from a good while back. I found it and it helped me decide to build my jeep up.
the adventure begins.........

I dont know if it is just the Hemi computer or if something is wrong with my jeep, but..... For some reason, I cant rev mine up in Park or Neutral. I wanted to show off the exhaust for a friend and it wouldnt work. The tach climbed up to about 2800RPM and the exhaust just went quiet.... The needle would keep climbing up until redline, but the motor only made a humming sounding, probably not any louder than at idle. It will rev just fine in gear, but not in park or neutral.... I dont know if this is a safety feature in the computer or what the deal. I know I have seen many Hemi trucks on Youtube showing off their exhaust.

just found this thread, hope your having fun with the swap. its worth it in the end, lots of fun to drive.

as far as the exhaust note in neutral or park, dont worry mine is the same. it wont give you a real idea of its true exhaust note until it is under load. I revved mine and thought, wow this isnt going to be too loud at all, then when I drove it and accellerated it had a very good V8 growl and good volume

Just ordered a filler neck tube for the new 05 gas tank and I am in the process of wiring up using the new harnesses. Some of the plugs don't seem to fit, I guess this is due to the hemi being a 07 and the harness for an 04; I will have to check with the guys at hotwire auto and the Jeep speed shop. The only one I am worried about is the oil pressure sensor as it has 3 wires on the factory connector and only 1 on the new one and the connectors are different. I guess I could just get an 04 oil pressure sensor. The alternator connector is different too but that at least only has 2 wires and I can splice the old connector onto the new harness, as with the starter solenoid which only has a single wire. Does anyone know if the alternators and starters changed between 04 and 07?

a saaaaaaavy gas tank skid would look great while providing ultimate protection on your new gas tank

Update

Not much happened over the weekend. I swapped a couple of connectors that didn't fit; tricky little buggers, until you figure how they come apart. I was lucky in that I had the original wiring harness from the hemi so I could re-use the connectors. Should be getting a few parts today:

Rad back from welder (blocking off the two unused ports)
MAP sensor
Gas tank filler tube

I need to order another couple of things:

oil pressure sensor
oil cap
air temp sensor

I have most of the harness connected ... stay tuned.

update

So I received all the parts I ordered :

oil cap
fuel cap
air temp sensor
map sensor
fuel filler tube

and installed them, so the only thing I'm waiting for is the oil pressure sensor which I havn't ordered yet coz I don't know which one to order.

I have run into another problem however, she wont fire up or even turn over. I suspect this is due to the neutral/park safety switch. As my 2.5l was a manual I will have to purchase this too. Is there a quick way to test this without it, before I order the NSS switch? When I turn the key I get nothing, no starter solenoid click.

She fired up

Wahoooo, boy is this thing loud or what.

Of course there is no exhaust system yet but I fired her up and she ran. I was so excited that I totally forgot that I had not put on the tranny fluid bypass hose I made up or that the oil filter had a hole in it near the top; so you guessed it tranny fluid and oil spewed out. But I don't care about that she ran first time.

Ok I solved the starter problem; I needed to put the 20A fuse in the no. 20 position in the fuse panel under the dash that disables the clutch safety circuit. This is due to my TJ being a manual before the swap.

I also solved the oil pressure sensor problem with an email to Chris @ hotwireauto, the part required was from an 04 Ram #4868672AA.

I am now going to change the oil, attach the tranny fluid bypass hose and attach the rad.

She was very loud, man am I stoked or what!

I've had a V8 in my TJ for 2 months now and I still do not have an exhaust.

I'm sure the neighbors love it.
