Help with trailer hitch

Ok I know there is a towing hitch section but it seems more geared to towing jeeps than jeeps actually towing and I figure tj tech would know more.

Anyways I want to buy a class 3 rear trailer hitch to pull a jet ski (only about 1000lbs). I have a 2000 sahara 4.0l 5 speed.

It needs light hook ups but I dont know where you would install the adapter. I looked last night and there is a uhaul light cable that is inside the tub hidden under the carpet and threaded to the back near the spare. Is this stock or did the po have this in? Can I use it anyway and if not what do I need?

(I want a 6 round to a 4 flat light adapter)

Also some of the tow hitches are straight and some are bent, what gives?

If you could recommend a decently priced hitch. Like 100-150 bucks that includes the light adapter.

The wiring harness plugs into the light wiring behind the two taillights. Beneath the tub right under the taillights, there should be a black plastic flap covering the lower corner of the tub. Just pull that flap out (a flat-head screwdriver helps) and reach your hand up in there. You'll feel a wiring adapter wrapped with a soft cushion-type thing. Unwrap that and plug your wiring harness in between. Repeat for the other side of the vehicle. Then you just run the wiring harness down to the back bumper and you're set!

Do a Google search for a more detailed write-up. It's really easy...

I got my light adapter from a local hitch store for $23. The hookups for it are under the tub behind the tail lights. There are access flaps under the Jeep by the plastic bumper ends.

I got my hitch used on Craigslist.

Here's the one I got: 1997 Jeep Wrangler Custom Fit Trailer Wiring Harness | etrailer.com. It works just fine, and it came with a full set of instructions that were very easy to follow.

I just go the thing 2 days ago. So im nooby and I did google and saw a vid on installation but I wasnt sure what the uhaul light is for.

I see that harness is for 4 flat pole

but what about a 6 round one for different trailers.

The U-Haul one must be aftermarket.

The factory jack is stored under the passenger's seat. There's a place it slides into, and a strap that wraps over it.

If your interested, I have a class III Quality S hitch I am looking to get rid of. Its yours for $50 OBO plus shipping on your dime. I can even ship it to you or you can come pick it up if the drive from NC isn't too bad. Let me know if your interested.

I have pics and so forth if you want them. The only reason I took it off was bc I bought a Ground Pounder Fab. rear bumper/tire carrier that had a receiver.
