Help me find a fabricated bracket to mount a single bucket seat in the rear!
Hey Folks,
For the life of me, I cannot find a pre-fabricated bracket on the market that would allow me to install a single bucket seat in the rear of my 1997 Jeep Wrangler. I would think this would be something that tons of people have installed but I can't find any info on it at all. I rarely have four people in the vehicle and figured a bucket seat would be more comfortable and safer than the bench and give me room on the other side for a cooler and gear. Does anyone know of a website, blog, or anywhere else where I might find some info on where to buy or how to install a single bucket seat in the backseat area? Thanks in advance, Brian in San Francisco

Never heard even a rumor of that, let alone a company making one for such a (very small if any) market.
On the other hand, it would be incredibly easy to fabricate such a bracket. What there is though, is a way to cut the seat in half, and use it as a split fold down or just half. Search, it's been talked about a few times.... |

Try Summit Racing, they have all kinds of universal brackets as well.

Contact http://www.expertoffroad.com/ at the Texas location. I'm pretty sure they were the ones who did this set up for a guy I know. He's on this forum, but I don't think he's on here much. It's pretty cool. He's just got a third bucket in the back; seat belt and all for his son.

How about getting a standard rear seat from a junk yard, pull it apart and use the bottom frame as a mount for a bucket seat either new, or also from said junkyard? I'd like to do the same, but it's far enough down on my list that I've not really looked into it much at all.

i had a yj a few years ago and used boat seats that i got from wal mart. that have the seats and the mounts from 6' up to about 18' tall and bought seat belts from advance auto. both seats mounts and belts was only about $75.00 compared to $200.00 for the yj factory seat

Folks,
I finally got my act together on this project and replaced the rear bench seat of my 97' Wrangler with a single bucket seat. As luck would have it, I found a pair of seats from the same make and model for sale in Santa Cruz for $75. In order to do this project correctly, I had to lower my gas tank. Since it was going to be lowered I figured I'd replace the fuel pump/filter and install a heavy duty skid plate. All in all, the project turned out ten times better than anticipated.
