Help (idle problems)

ok i have a 2001 tj and there is a warning light on for the onboard diagnostic system or whatever and it will start and run and drive but whenever i come to a stop the rpms drop and it stalls, i have a book with symptoms and what the problem is and it says that if it idles irregularly than it is prob fuel or intake related, also when i turn it off there is like a bubling noise and i cant trace it and have no idea what it is from and also the oil pan, differential and part of the tranny look wet like there is some sort of leak im not sure if all of this is related or not but i dont know what to do

Do you know what fluid it is that is leaking?

Also, go here and pull your code(s):

its not a check engine code so i dunno if that applies, and i dont know what the fluid is it might just be a not tight enough oil pan screw, there is also some in the front that looks like coolant, but im not loosing coolant so i dunno

A bad idle is commonly caused by a dirty Idle Air Controller. Mounted at the 12 o'clock position on the throttle body when looking at it from the driver's side fender, remove it and gently clean its plunger and hole the plunger fits into with a brush and throttle body cleaner. It's held on by two small torx head bolts.

If it's not that, it is likely the throttle position sensor that needs replacing. That is mounted at the 3 o'clock position and is easily replaced after undoing its two small torx bolts.

The TPS (see above) gets dirty inside and when it does, it causes an eratic idle or RPM at various throttle settings. It can be replaced for under $50 in five minutes.

also is there any way to tell if the pieces need to be replaced by looking at them, and how are they removed?

You have a vacuum leak.

When you reinstalled the throttle body, you must not have tightened it all the way down or it must not be seated properly.

He threw a P0123 - Throttle position sensor voltage high...

but wasn't able to clean the TPS, only the IAC. Now, a vacuum leak.

We might be losing the patient, Luke, able to help this one, not...
