Help I broke Something! Plastic Elbow, Pics Included
Okay, I am replacing my exhaust manifold today and tomorrow. Everything went pretty smooth except for this plastic elbow thingy. I went to pull the hose off of it and it snapped right off. I then tried to pry the stupid thing off and it keeps breaking. Is there a trick?

I think that is your PCV valve, not 100% sure but it would make sense.

Just break it the rest of the way out.......
I did the same thing. It costs about 6 bucks at a dealer. There is a trick to putting it back in. Fit the rubber grommet in the valve cover first then push the elbow into the rubber grommet. |

just get a knife and pry it out. i broke one too. it's easier to unplug it from the other end of that hose, than it is to get it off that valve cover.

Hay thanks for the replies. I will break the thing out in pcs. Is it easier to pry from underneath the rubber boot?

make sure those random pieces you break dont fall into the valve cover, could mess something up

yep... definately the pcv valve... it's an easy fix... No need to pay 6 dollars to the dealer though... you can get one at autozone for about 3... all it really is, is a check valve.

I went to Advanced Auto Parts and they were not able to get one. I was just about to head on over the AutoZone but didn't. I went to the dealer, pre paid my 6 bucks, and the part is supposed to be there tomorrow. I had to go to work, so I will wrap this up tomorrow.
Does anyone know of a majical tool to get the rest of the stupid out with? I am sure small pcs are falling inside my valve cover. Thanks for the help everyone. ![]()

That is actually just called the "Fixed Oriface Fitting" it is part of the 4.0L Closed Crankcase Ventilation (CCV) System. The 4.0L engine does not actually contain a PCV Valve... only 4 cyl. Wranglers do. It accomplishes close to the same thing, but is just 1 less thing to actually worry about.
