Help disk brakes

This is probably a really dumb question but here it goes, my disk brake pads are pretty hard against the rotors I took my wheels off and yup its the pads tight against the rotors, now this CANT be good for MPG and I cant figure out how to loosen the pads up, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you can grab the rotor and spin it by hand with a slight sound of dragging coming from the pads, then that's how they are supposed to be.

the pads will always slghtly touch the rotors. if you look at the way a caliper is desiged..more specifically on a jeep which is a single piston caliper it sqeezes the two sides together, but there is no opposing force to pull them back apart. i don't think there is on any brake setup. they only way to loosen th pads is try pry against the pston wich will just push all the brake fluid back into your resivoir possiblt overflowing it but then again as soon as you step on your brakes again they will be touching...now if you are having trouble spinning the wheel becasue your pads as soo tight then you may have an issue. but in a nutshell sounds like your brakes are doing and looking how they should.
