This is a long shot but I've also had this problem when I use the wrong key. I can start my Jeep with the key for my sons Jeep and vice versa.

Only the airbag light stays lit and the a/c doesn't work in his (no a/c in mine). Do you have another Chrysler key?

Really? thats intresting what are the odds of keys workign on other cars... i guess if you think about it only so many ways to cut a key lol...I dont have an electrical diagram with me, but any relays run that circut? You said its the same circut, so look for the relay and switch it with another relay that you know works... just an other thought.

I just had exactly the same issue. After much forum searching, I replaced the ignition switch module - problem solved. Part was $43 at NAPA. Installation was very easy - there are a few threads and even a couple of YouTube videos that show how to change it out.

Different keys, just enough slop in the switch that either would turn it. Just not allow it to work right.

I've also had the keys fall out wheeling w/o doors. Didn't realize it till I tried to shut it off. Fortunately they stayed in the tub.
