Heater Core?
Has anyone changed out their heater core? I have a 2001 4.0 w/ AC and have noticed that my antifreeze level has been dropping very very slowly (about 1/2 gallon over about 12 months). It does not leave any drips or puddles on the ground anywhere and the carpet is bone dry. However, there is a slight antifreeze smell at times when the heater is on so I am thinking it might be the heater core. I can live with adding coolant once a year but I am not too fond of the smell.
It looks like it sits right in behind (or would that be in front of ) the glove box. Do you have to take a part the dash and a bunch of air ducts to get at it? Any insight someone might have would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes I have had to change mine out. You have to pull the entire dash and steering column in order to get it out. It's definately not a job that I look forward to doing again. Make sure that you get hold of a FSM prior to doing the job.

It is probably the seal around the top of the radiator, Heater core would leave the smell of antifreeze inside the Jeep.
