Heater/AC blower speed

My 05 Wrangler blower only works on high speed. It just happened 1 day and I can not find anything wrong. Any one ever have this problem and if you have what was the problem? I have checked all the fuses and they are all okay.
Thanks
Glad I found this forum. It looks like you guys are all real helpful and know whats going on.

Heater Problems 05 Wrangler...

My 05 Wrangler's heater went tits up about 1-1/2 years ago. The blower works fine, but, only on the defrost...can't direct heat to the floor and/or the front vents. I checked all the vacuum fittings and found nothing...dismantled the entire dash and attemted to fish any obstructions from the ducting & still no relief. I finnaly stuck a small object in the floor vents to get some heat down below. The whole thing sucks (okay, blows...)!

I suspect a trip to the dealer & a $750 bill would yield a cure, but, I'd prefer to pump them bucks into something I want like a new winch instead of something I need...frickin'-A...

Take apart the dash and take a look behind the controls of your heat/ac, fan speed etc ...

You may find that there will be some melted connections, this could mean your blower is pulling to many AMPS, or perhaps there is a bad resistor or ground somewhere.

I just did this repair two hours ago. The switch that controls the heater blower has nothing to do with the lower speeds. The lower speeds are created by passing the current through a resistor pack. High speed is no resistance that is why it works.

The resistor pack is mounted in the blower housing. To get to it, you have to take a plastic cover off the blower which has 4 screws holding it. The upper two screws you loosen the lower two take out completely.

The resistor pack is oriented towards the left side of the area under the cover. Two screws and it's out. One connector and it's off.

Here is the number off the part box 04864957

Here is an ebay listing that will show you the part. The price is cheaper than what I paid at the dealer. I think it was around 50 dollars.

Probably a resistor pack. My 2005 went 3 months ago, 4,000 miles out of warranty. It was around $20 at the dealer. You need to be a contortionist to replace it, but well worth saving the labor charge. Do a search, there are some very good write ups, and great pictures. Good luck! By the way, it looks nothing like the picture posted above. It looks more like a credit card with a big end for a connector.
