headlight upgrade?

I am building a 2005 LJ unlimited from a frontend wreck. My queastin, I'm at the point now to put lights back in. I'm looking at the $129 dollar set from quadratec, but just curious how much brighter they can be, and if they are indeed worth the extra cash.

I just replaced mine with a set of Sylvania Xtra brites cost me about 30 bucks for both and they just as bright though not as white as my buddys silverstars, to get to the point I dont think my headlight should or legaly could be any brighter than they are right now...the X-tra brights are great bang for the buck and im practically running people off the road with lights that cost me so little. So Id say no they arent worth it...save your money and invest in some high performance driving lights that you can actually use

IPF housing for sure- pick whatever bulb you want- get an after market wiring harness with relays that connect to the battery- IPF has one too.

the stock headlights are sealed , meaning you need to replace the entire headlight to change it, Sylvania silverstar's are brighter then stock if you go that route

If you convert to H4 then the 80w Fatboys are about as high as I would go on the stock wiring. Any higher and I would wire in a relay to take the load off the stock wiring. However, I wouldn't run anything higher than 80w as anything above 60w is illegal on the street.

Checkout this writeup to see the improvement:

Concur on the Hellas. I got the Hella Vision Plus from Quatratec and I couldn't be happier. These were given the best reviews in the recent JP magazine test. Easy install except for those torx fasteners. What would normally take 20 minutes max for the whole job took me 1 hour just because of those little buggers. But I digress...

Well worth the coin.

I really like the European pattern lens as well. I have the 80/55W bulbs in mine. Only real issue is trying to read any tall signs at night as the cutoff is designed to keep the light low.

I've been running Hella or Cibie lights for years in everything I've owned that would take them. You can't beat the beam pattern and can get them fairly reasonably on ebay. I paid ~$75 for H-4 housings and bulbs for my TJ, last year.
