Have $5000, ready to make mods!!!
I have the cash to make some mods now and I am hung up on the size of tire to go with. I have a dana 44 rear and dana 30 front and both will be locked up. I want 35's, but thinking about getting 33's. I know there isn't hardly any difference, but I am concerned about snapping the front axles with 35's, but I'm sure that this all depends on how hard you are on the gas pedal. All of you guys that are breaking your alxes, what kind of wheeling were you doing when they broke? Rocks? I'm curious. Also, I know that you can buy warn or superior replacement axles, but I haven't read much about breakage from people with 33's. Really, how much more advantageous are the 35's gonna be? The money is burning a hole in my pocket and the tire size is my only dilemma.......... Any and all help is appreciated!

well, all I can say is if your thinking about 35's get them. If you go with 33's you will end up regreting your decision. As far as axles go, from what i read, the JV guys are running 35's on their d30's with the warn hub kit with good success. But, I guess it all comes down to where and what kind of wheelin you do. So, as far as making a suggestion, I don't know if the trails you run "require" 35's or if 33's will do. Good luck with your decision, let the fun begin. For the wheelin I do, I'd run 35's, 4.88's, arb's (I have a detroit and sometimes it acts up too much for a DD) and a tera 4-1 kit. But I do mostly rocks.

I would say go 35's. The D30 is fairly strong and it should be fine with the 35's. It really depends how rough you are on the skinny pedal. What kind of lift are you doin? Also with the 35's you would want to regear 4.56 or 4.88. 4.88 would be a little more torquey if your crawling. The 4 to 1 kit would be nice. It depends what kind of riding you do. The 35's will give you aq little more clearance on the diffs too.

Do yourself a favor, dont drop a penny into you D30. With 36in SX, replaces two hubs, one r and p, lost count on how many axle shafts. But I also had a full detroit, which in my opinion, is the only way to go.
Not one problem with the 44. INVEST in a front 44, and lock and gear both ends. Save up little more money and get a lift and tires. Build it once, build it right
