Hardtop Repair
Hi,
Is having a hardtop repaired expensive? I have a small spot under the right back window that from what looks like got knocked in when the hardtop wasn't on. Now there is a small spot were the fiberglass is just kinda hanging there. Thanks, Jason

Which part is it? Is it a corner and part of the load bearing structure? If so, you may want to reinforce it with some plating and bolts. Fiberglass repair is not difficult, and since you arent dealing with metal or anything, adhesion of the resin should be a snap. There are a lot of sites out there that will show you how to prep fiberglass. You can use "kitty hair" as a fiberglass filler (I think that is what its called) and then use the sheets as a top coat. Again, if it is structural you will want to criss cross the top layers so you have strength in multiple planes to deal with stress, similar to carbon fiber setups. Complete the job with sanding and painting.

DIY is a fun project!
Also, if you still are a little shakey about it, you may wanna pull into a marina or a boat shop and ask them if they can do a side job for you... most will. HTH ![]() |
