Hard Top Wiper Wiring Question

I just got a hardtop for my 2000 TJ and was woundering if it was possible to wire a switch in for the rear wiper? How about the defrost? I dont feel like spending 100+ dollars for the wiring harness right now. I was woundering if I can hook a switch up in the dash and have it turn the wipers on and off and likewise for the defroster.

Thanks,
Cody

The wiring harness that I put on my 06 about a month ago is pretty extensive to hook up... It has little pins that you have to push into the factory plugs. I am sure that you can use a 12 volt power source and some type of relay design to get them both working but I would just recommend buying the harness. Just my .02

I think the defrost would be easy enough. Problem you might run into is overheating. OEM is designed to turn off when it reaches temp, I believe. The wiper is more difficult. Just the time and money to make it work probably makes the harness look like a bargain.

I'd keep looking for a cheaper harness online.

Coming from a guy who just installed one on his '97 TJ last weekend: Find the complete wiring kit. I picked one up from jeepsareus.com with everything you need. It was about $120 and came with the complete harness, connectors, plugs, a new fluid jug, pump, relays, and switches. The instructions it came with are perfect and complete. It took me about 2-3 hours to finish it all up. It was worth the $120 in my opinion.

I also installed the kit. The kit does have everything. The instructions could have been a touch better by adding some written text instead of all pictures.

The defrost is on a timer circuit. 10 minutes.
