Hard top rear hitch problem...Anyone else have this problem?
This is becoming rather annoying. The left lower part doesnt stay in all the way, and because of this, the rear wiper will get caught behind the center brake light plastic housing. This then causes me to pull over, open the trunk, close the rear hitch tightly, and continue driving untill it happens again.
I mean come on, this is a 2004 Jeep. Why is this happening?

When you slam the door on the hardtop, the rear hatch window pops open. Either shut the door softly or leave one window down 1/2" and it won't happen.

adjust your window downwards by loosening the hinge bolts so ti catches the tailgate more. Common problem on 2003 and 2004 tj's for some reason QC in the factory is messed up on that.

My '03 does that as well. I found that it doesn't matter how hard I slam the tailgate, it has to do with going over bumps. I went to the dealership and they told me that the body shop can lower the rear window a little so that the tailgate will catch the bottom of the rear window better. It is pretty annoying, especially since the only time I figure out it's stuck is when it's raining! ![]() |
