H4 Headlight Upgrade - Cibie Lamps/IPF MG or IPF920H Lamps w/IPF 80/110 Bulbs

I am willing to put about $200 toward a H4 headlight upgrade on my TJ. Here are the two options I am considering:

- Cibie Lamps & IPF Magic Glow bulbs 55w/60w
- IPF920H Lamps & IPF 80w/110w Bulbs & wiring harnss

these setups both come to around $200.. what would you do? are the Cibie lamps worth getting lower watt bulbs and no harness?

The only info I can offer up is that I bought Autopal E code metal housings off ebay ($40) and put in Wagner 80/100 ($25) bulbs and that was probably the best $65 upgrade I have done to date. I do not think that I would spend that much as I really do not think it would be worth the extra $140 +/-. I have not done the harness upgrade yet but plan to. I hear it does not do much for the brightness of the bulbs but saves on the headlight switch. HTH

My GF got me the IPF E-code h-4 housings and i put in some IPF Fatboy bulbs. I was running Silverstars and the IPF's are so so much better. I feel like i was driving around with a candle in front of a cookie sheet.......now its like i have actual headlights......difference is amazing......i didn't do the wiring upgrade.

You can get that same set-up for aboiut $130.00.

I cant remember what the name of my lamps are but they were $70.00 on eBay (and are very nice) and then I bought the Magic Glow blue's for $62.00.

Very pleased with the light output, over twice what the factory lamps were. Easily more than twice. Never use the fogs for on the road driving cause they are never really needed. And the brights have a great vertical component to them, they light up the trees on either side of the road.

I just setup the IPF 920H E-codes with Silverstar bulbs. For around $90, northridge had the IPFs for $30 ea with free shipping. The Silverstars I got locally for around $30 for the pair.

Not sure how much more you will get out of the Magic Glows. But my Silverstars put out a nice pattern and color.

Oman, sometimes you just can't help yourself!

Selmo, consider Hella H-4s, and by all means do the relays. I saw an improvement in brightness/whiteness with relays, and it leaves the door open for upping the wattage if you aren't happy.

Due respect to others, but I would avoid the funny-color bulbs, tho I do like Yellowstars in the fogs.
