Yep, well I ran Mobil-1 75W-90 and had NO worn out carrier bearings. In fact I just recalled I have been running it in my axles for probably 5-6 years now, I just don't use Mobil-1 in my engine. It just sounds like whoever set up your gears didn't know what they were doing. Plenty of JF members talk about their use of Mobil-1 gear lubes so it certainly isn't exactly responsible for an epedemic of bad bearings.

it wasn't worn gears,it wore the carrier bearings. If you do some searching on the net its very common problem with m1 75-90.3 sets in my 99 until we realized it was the oil.Was very frustrating. Most people wouldn't know the bearings are bad until 75k or so,but i know the sounds and knew something was up.Like i said its common,i know all you m1 guys are gonna say bs but i wouldn't use it if came with Pamela Anderson.

This may be too simple but did you possibly tighten the diff fill plug too tight causing it to hit something on the inside? I know people do it all the time with aftermarket covers which you may have. I'm sure with enough force you could do it to a stock cover.

My 10 year old truck had M1 gear oil run in the rear Dana80 for all of it's life before I bought it with 100K miles on it. When I pulled the cover and carrier to inspect everything before filling it with synthetic everything looked like brand new... this is a truck that has seen it's share of 15K lb loads for thousands of miles.

If it's true post some proof... if everyone agrees post some evidence. I don't even use M1 products and I think you're full of it.

I just used Google and Yahoo to search for problems with Mobil-1 75W-90 and found NOTHING negative.

One of the many non-negative 'hits' was a Blackstone oil analysis of Mobil-1 75W-90 and it said the results were excellent... http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4617

Nonya, I personally think you're full of crap on your groundless Mobil-1 75W-90 claims.

Believe what you like, this truck lived on a ranch for 10 years and was serviced by the same people who serviced all the tractors and other farm equipment and they ran 75W90 M! in everything. Any other trolling you would like to do today or will you post at least one piece of evidence on anything you claim?
