Got my tires rotated. Now tires are excessively loud at highway speeds.

Is this normal?

MTRs do tend to get louder as they wear...

You need to rotate every 3000 miles to avoid this.

Give it about 200-300 miles and it'll quiet down.

X2

When I bought my Jeep I complained about the tires. They were really loud. The guy aggreed to install new tires or knock off $400 from the price. I opted for the discount since I knew the tires would quiet down after some use. Within 500 miles everything quieted down.

my MT/R's were REALLY loud in the begining, then after about 300 miles they quieted down a little, but were still REALLY loud. then i put BFG muds (315x75x16r) on and they're more quiet than 9.5" wide MT/R's

I experianced this recently also, the driverside rear tire sounded like a wwii airplane at full throttle. The tire's tread was sloped to one side! I found my front-end alighnment was WAYYYY off center. I gotta pay more attention to that on a regular basis. The sloped tire is now my spare. I didn't have the patience to wait for it to wear down.

They should be a little bit louder. It also depends on how they were rotated. I had one place that did mine, and they were not as loud as they typically are when I have them done.
I looked and found that they had just moved the front to the rear buy didn't swap left to right. I swapped the RR with the RL and they were much louder simply because the tread is not cutting in the direction opposite of the previous 5k miles.

Your rotation should be FR to RL and FL to RR and throw the spare into the mix as well.

I haven't rotated my spare in because I knew I was going to move from 33s to 35s and the shop said they would credit me toward the 33 if it still have the little porcipine things on the tread.
