i don't buy it. if it was that easy to prevent rust, they would already come on cars.

That technology has been around for a while. It does work in some applications- I wouldn't trust my vehicle to it-I get mine Krown'd once a year.

I know must of you will laugh at my intent but I was interested in it to stop the rust around the weld joints of chrome bumpers. (I know not many of you are a fan of chrome)

I can't afford a bumper-chrome or rusty
I think the best thing for that is keeping the wax on it.

I doubt that product will work...
My plans for rust are to line-x the inside of the tub, and por-15 the underneath.

Could someone provide a rebuttal? I am far from a chemist!

That kind of system to prevent electrolysis has been in use on boats for many years. It can prevent or at least reduce some forms of corrosion, especially between dissimilar metals. Not sure how well it'd work on a Jeep but the theory isn't too far out of whack.
Here's a little reading on it... http://sailing.mit.edu/mediawiki/index.php/Systems_Descriptions#anti-electrolysis Obviously a sacrificial zinc would not work on a Jeep. ![]()

I am a chemist so I will comment, rust is an electrochemical reaction so in theory the system could work......however in most true systems (protecting bridges etc in salt water enviroments) a Sacrifical Cathode is used this is a metal block (can't remember which metal) that that wears down will protecting the steel. These systems are just sending an electrical pulse through the Jeep.
I'll even go one better - Living in the rust belt I bought one of these systems hoping that it would stop the rusting on my front bumper (black painted), it has not helped at all . my bumper looks like ****. And further, the unit puts out a pulse a second, a red LED on the unit tells you it is working however when it is cold the unit beeps as well, the colder it is the louder the beep it is rather annoying. Overall I would not recommend these units. |

Don't forget you're happily using your battery while it sits in a parking lot at the airport. So be prepared to meet new friends and get some good jumper cables.
