Good way to get rid of rust on floor?
Underneath the carpet around the front driver and passenger side feet area there is some surface rust (and around the drain plugs).
Is there a quick and nice solution to cleaning this and then applying something to keep it from coming back?

Maybe a wire wheel..naval jelly works..
Or POR-15, which can be applied right over the rust and prevent further oxidation. |

I scraped the rust areas on mine first with a wire brush and a scotch brite pad then I painted the floors rusty areas with POR15, primed, then painted with a spray can of body color (you can get it at an automotive paint store, if you show them your VIN # they can mach up the exact variation of your particular body color.) Then I sprayed clear coat on last. It took a long time and you have to mask everything on the interior and exterior really well because the spray gets every where, but it's worth the time to do it right. Mine floors still look pretty good after about 2 years now.

You still need to take care of the rust first or anything you out over it will eventually peel. I have been using POR15 for about 15 years restoring cars and still haven't found a better product. Just scuff the rust to remove any loose stuff with some sand paper and apply the POR15, just make sure to WEAR GLOVES!
