Gears(4.10 or 4.11

Alright I know very little about gears and need me an edgamacation or atleast some answers. I have a 97tj sport, 4.0L,5spd,d30 front,d35 rear, with stock 3.07 gears. When I upgrade to 33" tires do I put in 4.10 or 4.11 R&P gears. Are they the same or is there a differnce? I was planning to hold off I this upgrade but now I am not sure. I can get the 4.10 gears off someone for around $100 and this shop said they would install for $700/w speedo gear, bearings and the whole 9yards. I was also thinking about a front arb locker but money would be tight(are lockers worth it or can I get away without)so I am not sure.
I have the stock 5 star 8"alum. wheels do I need to replace the for other wheels with different BSing or are these ok. Any suggestions would be welcome.(I just want to avoid doing things wrong or over at a later date)
Thanx
John "hanibal" Smith

The 4.10 and 4.11 ring gears are the same. Factory Dana is actually 4.106. Have the shop inspect the gears first if possible.

Just curious as to the benefits of running it in the rear. I figureed you would want the traction in the front to help pull you through and steer. Most of my wheelin is in muddy conditions so I think it would be worth it, but the money issue and my lack of knowlege on lockers are holding me back. I have heard they can add stress to your axles(I have dana 35rear) and with the increase in tire size it may be too much?

With a rear D35, you dont want to run tires larger than 33's with a locker in the rear. Both add stress to your axle, which can cause it to break.

Lockers are worth it, well worth it. A stock jeep, with 30s and lockers in front and rear WILL perform better in mud than a lifted jeep w/ 33s.

If you get one locker, put it in the rear. I have a detroit in my rear D44, and I love it!

I have watched many guys try to go up dump bump in moab with a locker in the rear and couldn't make it. Then a TJ with a air locker in the front walked right up it. I don't know how they do in the mud but on rocks I'd rather have the locker in the front. It just worked a lot better then in the rear. If you put the locewr in the front you will break so look into Warn's inner and outer axels. With those your 30 will be as strong as a 44 except for the ring and pinion.

I have the warn inner axels for a front D30 if your interested. Un fortunatly I don't have the outers but the inners are most likely to break before the outers. Anyways all who are interested just ask they retail for almost $400 and I'll sell them for $200. Great deal for anyone that wants them.
