I ordered blue 74-xHP3 bulbs from superbrightleds
Those will fit into the little brown things that the stock lights are in right? They will be here in the mail tomorrow.
This is what they look like.
I'm wondering because they look very funny compared to the ones that came in the jeep.

Looks great! Camera doesn't do it much justice thought. It's actually a much darker blue.

This guide is amazing!! Does anyone know if you can put multiple colors in there? I'm wanting to have some gauges blue and some yellow. Is this possible without getting green?

I can't positively confirm, but I'm pretty certain you're going to have some color bleeding. They're meant to spread across the gauges the way they're designed.. As cheap as LED's are, though, it wouldn't hurt to try and see if you can live with it if it does bleed.

Thats what I was thinking. I wonder if I could open up the case and put some dividers in there...

There is no way to put in a divider. In this thread, there is a dash that has green and orange. (Can't say what blue and yellow will look like) http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/tj-d...ml#post3592293

LEDs loose

So I bought a few of these for my 98 and after installing one, it is loose in the socket. Has anyone else experienced this? I ordered the SKU# of 74_3_R and it is not snug in there at all (wants to fall right out). Did I get the part number wrong or something?

Please help before I return these and re-order...thanks.

This was a great write up, I did mine with red leds in 30 minutes on my 97 tj. Only problem I tried to use the same 74 bulbs in my climate control as the op had done and it started smoking. So I put the old bulbs back in.

Great post Matt! Thank you. I ordered exactly what you listed for my '06 and it was a straight forward install. An excellent way to class up our interiors! What did you ever do with the dome and foot well lights?

Late to the LED party

Just finished readin' through a billion pages of old questions and responses, whew. Gonna order some bulbs soon. But have just a few questions.

The 5 for the gauges makes sense and seem straight forward. I always run my gauges on the lowest dimmed setting possible so I'm gonna try the single LEDs here. Does anyone feel that the LED replacement is too bright? Also, has anyone attempted swapping out just 2 or 3 of the 5 for a softer glow? Again it's cheap enough I'll just buy some and see what I like after messing with it.

Superbrightleds suggest 2 options as replacement for the dome light on my 2002 TJ and neither match my existing bulb. They recommend the "festoon" types and mine are def mini wedge based. I assume I can toss in any of the 194/921 series lights in the dome light?

I'm thinking something like below pic, will be flat up against the sound bar and has a solid 120 degree angle of illumination and 85 lumens rating. Thoughts? It is over sized a bit, but after pulling the dome light cover there seems to be enough room for it.

194 LED Bulb - 6 SMD LED Wedge Base DAC (dome lights)

Since the floor lights are up inside a wee little housing with a cover I assume a reduced illumination angle works well. I'm looking at these with 12 LEDs and a 75 degree illumination angle, but only 30 lumens. Thoughts?

921 LED Bulb - 12 Wide Angle LED Mini Wedge Base (Floor lights)

Looks like an easy upgrade/mod. I'm most excited to get a bit more illumination in the cab. My biggest concern is the discrepancy of the dome light info.

Thanks jeepforum, you rule!
