Just did my own conversion, white LEDs for the entire dash, for about 5 bucks. (college kids pay attention)
If you get the LED's and resistors in bulk you can get them to fit the socket easily.
I bought "3mm White LED Lamps 15000mcd Free Resistors" from ebay
The resisters were about 470 Ohms, and i used two to dim them a bit in an attempt to match the brightness of the Odometer. also, two resistors fit the socket perfectly! The attached pic shows how to fit them into the instrument cluster sockets. I used sandpaper to dull the LEDs, which helped diffuse the light and eliminate most bright spots. you can also aim the led a bit in the socket if you still have a bright spot.
The HVAC controls are much easier as you can pull the old bulb out like a Christmas tree light and replace it with the LED by wrapping the wire around the socket. just don't forget the resistors, LED's can't take 12V for too long.
oh and a side note white led's are showing up BLUE in my HVAC. I may switch to AMBER LED's to get them closer to white.
Will post more pics soon.
