Gas Tank Metal Strap Bolts
So I went to remove the thread protectors and surprise surprise, I found this..
Anyone fab'd something up as a substitute to the metal straps?
Does anyone know if the dealer just has the straps?
Any ideas to rectify the issue?
Tried heating it, PB blasted it last night, the bolt is fused. Not to mention the rest of the thread .. . . .

Shameless plug- Contact anyone with one of our new Savvy Offroad skids. The factory straps are not re-used and I know personally of several sets that I told the folks to save just for instances like this.

I got my replacements from daveys jeeps I think they were $20 or $30 plus shipping.
For being junk yard parts they are very clean, no rust or other issues.

As a matter of fact I do, but didn't offer because the OP was in Canada. Not that there's anything wrong with that (being Canadian) but I have no experience shipping there; have only heard the horror stories about customs, export duty and such. Thought it would just be a hassle for the OP and myself.
If my fears are unfounded...
OP, now that Blaine has me coming clean, they're yours for the cost of shipping should you want them. They are from a 2005.

Fantastic. Thanks for the offer. Greatly appreciate it.
I have a box in the U.S - I hate dealing with customs as well and I order all my parts through a shipping/receiving store or USPS box.
But mrBlaine enlightened me with the savvy skid, and I am in the process of ordering one. Can't wait.
Again, thanks brother.

LOL! You can tell he's new around here.
Do you see where Blaine posted above? He is Savvy Offroad, is a vender on JF and there is an entire thread about that skid. Search "aluminu skid plate" or "new fuel tank skid". Last I heard they didin't have the YJ model available yet. BUt it sure looks like a great unit doesn't is. I jst got through whining because it came out right after I bought and modded my SR skid... LOL!

Be very careful with the wife mod. Uninstallation can be extremely expensive. Wife mods have been known to take the Jeep and all other mods during the uninstall process. Also, make sure you service your wife mod properly as often as humanly possible. Wife mods not properly serviced may malfunction or uninstall themselves at any time.
